Fireboy and Watergirl 3: The Ice Temple Unblocked: Two Characters, One Brain Required

The Fireboy and Watergirl series has been on school computers since 2009. Fireboy and Watergirl 3 Unblocked is the Ice Temple entry, released April 5, 2012. Same formula as the first two. Guide both characters to their exits without letting either one touch the wrong liquid. But ice changes everything. Fireboy slides fast across it. Watergirl slows down significantly. Neither can jump while on ice. Spent 40 minutes on it testing solo and the ice mechanic adds a layer of planning that the Forest Temple didn't have. With two people on one keyboard it becomes properly cooperative. Came back for more sessions. That's the game.

Two Characters, Opposite Weaknesses

Fireboy dies in water. Watergirl dies in lava. Neither can survive the green toxic sludge. Fireboy collects red diamonds. Watergirl collects blue ones. Each level requires both characters to reach their respective exit simultaneously. Most levels are puzzles about sequencing. Who goes first, which button activates which platform, and how to get both characters across when the path requires one of them to hold something for the other. The Ice Temple's slippery floors add momentum management on top of all that.

The Ice Mechanic Nobody Warns You About

Ice floors change the feel of every level that has them. Fireboy slides faster than normal on ice and can overshoot platforms. Watergirl slows to a crawl and struggles to stop at specific points. Neither character can jump while standing on ice, which removes your usual options for avoiding hazards. The game introduces these mechanics gradually in the early levels, but by level 15 they're part of almost every puzzle.

Controls

  • Fireboy (← → ↑): Move left, right, jump
  • Watergirl (A D W): Move left, right, jump
  • Solo: Switch between characters as needed. You control both
  • Levers: Walk into them to activate platforms and doors

37 Levels Across Three Types

Normal levels are the standard format. Guide both characters to exits, collect gems along the way. 20 of these. Simultaneous levels require both characters to move symmetrically at the same time. The map is mirrored and both must navigate identical paths in sync. These are the hardest solo. 6 of these. White Diamond levels have one rare white diamond to collect in addition to the exits. 11 of these. The white diamonds are optional but getting them is the challenge most players come back for after finishing the main path.

Getting Through the Harder Levels

  • Plan before moving: Stand still at the start of each level and trace both characters' paths mentally. Moving immediately on ice levels usually ends in one of them falling into a hazard.
  • Fireboy goes first on ice: His faster slide speed means he reaches platforms and levers sooner. Use him to activate platforms that Watergirl then uses to cross safely.
  • Use levers to create timing windows: Most levers affect platforms with limited timing. Activate the lever, immediately move the second character to take advantage of the opening. Don't wait.
  • Simultaneous levels: move one direction at a time: On mirrored levels, plan one axis of movement at a time. Both left-right together first, then both up-down. Splitting your attention between both characters in all directions at once is where most mistakes happen.
  • White diamonds need a second pass: On levels with white diamonds, ignore them on the first attempt. Figure out how to complete the level, then retry knowing the layout and plan the diamond into your route.

Developer and Series

Fireboy and Watergirl 3: The Ice Temple was created by Oslo Albet, an independent developer, and released April 5, 2012. Albet built the entire series solo over more than a decade. The HTML5 version arrived in September 2018 after Flash was discontinued. The series has 7 entries as of 2026. The Ice Temple remains one of the most played entries alongside the original Forest Temple.
